Alternator questions 120-130 1967

It obviously has an internal regulator. It will only charge as many amps as the battery
wants and it may be that it knows when the battery is fully charged and drops to 12.8
at that time. If it always charges high right after you start and then drops off it
seems to me that it is doing pretty much right.
If for any reason it drops below 12.6 and stays there, THEN you have a problem.
You could check it by giving it a heavy load and see if it kicks in, like lights and heater.
(or leaning on the horn)
