Mike, you're hilarious, and oh so correct. I cannot to this day understand why so many, many unfortunate people felt they had to find a home for that wire.
As for the white plug, I can't say. Whenever circuit ID is in question, the best identifier is wire color, not plug color or relay color. Show the wires, and the context (where it is). Not @ you Mike, I know you already have this concept. For instance, here is the dome light delay relay:


Unused connectors are often for accessories or options, such as remote heated mirrors. Courtesy lamp delay was an option, but one often associated with battery drain when it messes up, and in combo with the door switch, a reason the chime might be on. The relay found in my 91 cars is clipped to the left side of the brake pedal bracket.
