I ahve not done it yet, but will be soon. I have seen MANY posts (here and TB) about using jeep front coils on the rear, but have heard differing opinions on the height, if stock does not work, there are a glut of jeep 3" lift coils out there also employing the use of an extra coil spring mount. I think that shoudl work w/o the need of the 3" lift spring. I have had them on my jeep and when I took them out and compared them to the stock springs, they were the same overall height, so the only thing that changed was the spring rate, not the height but it was enough to lift that beast of a 6 cyl up 3". For the front, I have it somewhere but can not remember which they are but a specific truck model coil spring works great on the front to replace the strut coils.
Im not looking for a super stiff ride (stiffer than what it is now) I just want more ground clearance with stock height tires. Use of the jeep 3" lift springs as opposed to the stock jeep springs will help with the weight I normally ALWAYS have in the trunk of my car (pipe fitter tools get heavy). The reason for this is actually quite simple; horrid new england roads, snow (less chance of "snow plow effect" when in deeper snow), mild off-road "excursions."
