Identifying "extra' wire in speedo harness 1991 240 ???

There are several really good posts on BB about how to repair the odometer- thanks especially to Art and cleanflametrap.com for the pictorials! Another very useful one I found via BB is http://www.hyperocity.com/volvo240/volvoodometer.htm

I had someone replace the broken gear in the odometer a few months ago, but the odometer only worked for a few days and I am just now getting around to trying to find out why it is still not working.

When I pulled the cluster out I found one wire in the speedo wire harness that wasn't pluggged into anything. It is a white/red wire with a female spade connector. Does anyone know what this should be connected to?

The only other spade connectors in the speedo harness are a white/pink male that goes to the lower left of the board, and a yellow/red female spade that goes to the right bottom of the board between the speedometer and the clock.

I often find wires under the dash which are not connected to anything- identifying them is a low priority generally, but might this have something to do with why my odometer isn't working?

Thanks,
Keith Ostertag
