1. Your plan is to cut a hole through carpet, wood, metal? And then drive w/ passengers and skis wedged through the center of the car between them? I'm not a safety freak but this seems a poor option.

2. I sold a Yakima rack on CL fr $20-30 after listing it for a year or so. You can't afford $20-50 for a used rack? Or a one of those cheap clip & strap kits?
