weird starting problem. 700 1990

I had a starting problem it would start fine cold but not hot I would let it sit for 1-1/2 hr and it starts fine. I replaced eng temp sensor not it then the cam positioning sensor comes off bell housing on back of eng a 3/8 thick wire and no more problem. I hope this help.
