A miracle has happened in my home town and a 1968 P1800S has popped up for auction here. I have a question about the paint job on the little P1800S....
It has the solid dark green paint but there is a dual white rally looking stripe that runs along the drivers side length of the car and I was wondering if that was something someone did or something that was offered through the factory? Everything else looks original...tan leather interior etc...It needs some work and cleaning up but has some potential.
I don't know jack about the P1800 since I've never actually seen one till now but looks like a relatively simple car to work on and has attributes that a tall man like myself could enjoy....It seems to have plenty of legroom for a sportier looking car.
Are these cars worth dragging home? I'm going to guess the car isn't going to sell for much since I live in a very small rural area and most people have no idea what the car is....I'm guessing $4-500 will sell it to satisfy what the storage unit owner wants to cover the cost of the cars time in the unit.
I will say I spotted some rust underneath the car along the bottom but no real major rust or body damage.
Anybody have some tips for me? How about that paint? Original or what?
