check engine light on but codes are normal 200 1991

I just replace the O2 sensor in my '91 sedan with the Walker universal sold by FCP Groton. The car runs fine. Ever since, the check engine light has been on. It wasn't before. The code in the #6 port reads a normal 1-1-1. I have disconnected the battery to erase any memory. The CEL will stay off briefly but eventually comes back on. Ideas? Thanks ! Jim
