Wait there is hope for me? 1800 1973

I have been waiting for warmer weather as I backed my 1800ES off a U-haul trailer using the starter in December.

I spun or broke the timing gear - valves well out of time, no compression in 1, 2 & 3. I still have not pulled the gear cover to even take a look.

This was going to be something I did upon return just to see what happened but I figured things were bent, if the head needs work then it is time for the bottom end as well.

As I searched the board for timing gear problems I do not see a tales of very bad things - just that it is a PITA if one breaks/spins.
