Upper starter mount bolt 200 1989

Hi:

Yes, this is possible!

I have had to do this about 3 or 4 times, when changing the starter or replacing the automatic transmission dipstick tube.

I remember using a long flathead screwdriver to tap the bolt into the firewall, then, it would have just enough room to wiggle out.

I think I also used a crowbar to bend the firewall in just a little bit, to create more room.

Good luck, this is one the little frustrating 240 issues that must be overcome, but it can be done.

Be sure to report back, and let us know how you resolved this issue

John

If it needs to be maintained, repaired or replaced on a 1990 240, I've probably done it. '90 240DL, 318,180 miles, will she make it to 400K ?? >>You haven't really worked on a car until you draw blood<< :-}
