I'm going to respectfully disagree. Properly done spacers (not, for instance, washers stacked on the studs!), particularly in the relatively thin form that you require, should not be a problem. As for the load/parts wear aspect, I've run 1" - yes, that's one inch - spacers on the front of my race car for years with no wheel bearing issues whatsoever.
