If you have a "ski pass-through" in the center of the rear seat, you should be able to open it from inside the car, then remove the (13mm, I think?) bolts holding the latch with the aid of a flashlight and a LONG set of extensions. I did this on my '89 way back when, after "someone" slammed the trunk shut way too hard.

But hey, now I have all the socket extensions I'll ever need.
