145s VIN 140-160

You're going for a used one? When new '68s are such a bargain these days...?

There should be a riveted VIN on the inside A-pillar, drivers side. Viewable from outside the car through the windshield. The car is probably titled to this one.

There should be a screwed in plate that's got all the type/color/etc specs above the brake booster.

And there should be a screwed on plate near below the brake booster on the fender frame support thing, also driveres side. This is probably painted, body color.

As long as the title matches either the first mentioned, or third mentioned... you should be fine. Don't expect those two plates to match. They don't on my '68 or my '70, neither of which has ever been painted since factory. One car, the chassis number is a couple hundred off the VIN, the other car it's off by 18.

I'm sure there's a stamped number somewhere, but I don't know where to look. And I never care.

I think '68 is the first year of the 145. Not that it makes it a better car, but it's kinda cool :)
