Thanks dewfpo. Learned some history on the car & got some things for it. May get more like a set of winter wheels/tires. I got this car from a guy I've been dealing with around 10 yrs. Bought a couple cars from him & lots of parts. He buys Volvo's at auction, fixes them & resells them. I got ahold of it before he started work on it.
The title went back to 2004 & I went to white pages.com & put the previous owners name in. Not expecting anything I did get ahold of the previous owner, his number was the same as was his address. We talked about the car & he had donated it a couple years ago (a local Childrens Hospital) due to the front end noise. Had someone try to repair it & they did the struts & control arm bushings. Only had about 2K miles put on it during that time. It was the sway links that I thought. Those suckers make it sound a lot worse than it is.
Anyway, I get a call from the P.O. yesterday & he has a main key with key FOB for me. All I got for the car was the Valet key & could not open the glove box. We meet up & the first thing I try is the glove box. Of course it works & I give him all the paper work for him to go through with any of his personal info on it. I have all the normal stuff with the folder.
Says he really liked the car while he owned it & his wife asked him to see if I'd sell it back if it was in the same shape as when they donated it. It was her car basically. He knew not to ask, just mentioned it. And I did tell him it was the sway bar links making the noise.
I normally try to buy a car from an individual so I can get info & a general feel of the P.O.. This worked out great being able to get info & the key, that saved me some bucks right there not having the dealer cut one. And the radio code was written on the radio so had that working. How often does that happen? I do it on mine, but nearly all I find in the yards hardly ever have it. And gave him the CD & tape that was in the unit. They were was his.
