External HG Coolant Leak

Hi Dan,

"The risk is that it the major coolant leak happens while you're driving and you don't notice car is overheating and the head and/or block warps, engine gets blown."

Actually, I've installed a float in the coolant reservoir which actuates an LED mounted on one of the dash blanks. Every now and again, when I go around a corner at speed, I'll get a little flicker to let me know the system is working properly. There's a writeup somewhere in the archives. So I'm really not concerned about leaking catching me by surprise.

On another note, I've heard some that rebuilding the head with new valves on an old motor - in this case 327k IS OLD - may cause problems with ring sealing and lead to oil blowby. Anyone else have a take on this.

Marty
