This post got me thinking about an issue w/my car

As George suggested--the clutch fork may be bending---it happens---but my bet is on firewall flex. Where the cable goes through the firewall it is not uncommon for 240's to develop cracks. The fix can range from proper welding to simply adding large washer(s) or a combination of both to reinforce the area. Looking doesn't always show the problem--the cracks are under the cable flange in the beginning. Have an assistant step on the clutch pedal as you observe the firewall from under the hood. Any flex is a problem. -- Dave
