loses drive power after several minutes 900

88 740 starts ok runs fine for 5 or 10 minutes then loses drive power engine runs but no power to wheels. Turn it off and restart it will run fine up to 35 or 40 mph for another couple of blocks maybe a mile then it looses power again. Turn it off and restart and it will drive again. I think I noticed vibration like running over RR tracks when trying to accelerate.
