I was very fortunate to find a turbobricks founder and childhood acquaintance on facebook, after writing this- he was generous enough to work through it on a spare : To disassemle the m46 you have to drive the pin set in the rubber gasket through- being careful not to destroy it because the pin it a roll of metal, not a tube or solid. Then pull hard upward- careful to pull straight, otherwise the rubber will bind up and fight you. Removing the small screw and upper reverse pull is necessary to do this.
Any advice on removing the pin holding the chromed shifter from the lower portion of the linkage- there is a pin through a rubber gasket.
Context: I decided to deal w/ my OD disconnect once and for all, took the shifter boot off, cut the wires at the top, backed them out of the shift column(?), fixed the existing wire at the floor, and connected new wires w/ enough length to solder to the OD switch and have some movement....Problem, I cannot re-feed the wires though the chromed upper part, because where it bottle-necks, the actual shift connection ends, and the wire won't make the it, which leads me to think I need to remove the pin holding the two parts together, lead the wire, then reconnect-
