P/S crush washers 700 1990

I think I've reached personal clarity on my crush washer observations.

I ordered from TASCA two crush washers of each of the two sizes they have catalogued (p/n 11996 and 18671). I just received them and saw top quality copper crush washers compared to the four that I removed. I don't think heating those that I had removed would restore them to a near-new appearance and performance. The OEM washers are so cheap, it's not worth my time to hunt local stores or resurrect used ones from the dead.

I'm now believing that my Volvo has suffered from sub-par quality washers and the subsequent leak. The car has a maintenance history that would suggest that when someone in the past installed a reman they used non-OEM washers. I still maintain that each of the these four washers are different in ID.

This experience reaffirms my belief to use OEM parts where ever possible or beware of the risks of straying into aftermarket.

Thank you all for your responses. Shortly, I'll share another power steering maintenance snag.

For the fun of Volvos,
Mike
