If you change it with an aftermarket model, be careful as they tend to come from the factory wired improperly. Prior to installation, check the wiring against your old unit. What I found when I did it is the wires at the black connector where it plugs into the wiring harness were reversed. I have also read that the ground and power wires that connect to the pump may be backwards causing the pump to run in reverse - not good.

By the way - aftermarket sending units are $200+. I would verify your need for one prior to purchasing a replacement.
