B16 distributor runs clockwise. B18/20 anti clockwise. I'm wondering what your timing procedure is, as basic timing usually starts at 10º BTDC. You mention 15º and then say you want 18-22º. Yes rotating the distributor body anticlockwise will retard the ignition (B18/20) but if set at 10º the vacuum unit should end up pointing towards approx 2 o'clock. Why do you want to rotate it further to 15º or worse still 18-22º?
