How much to ask for an engine removal? 700 1990

Howdy folks.

I lost my job at the auto shop where I was working a few weeks ago.

I found another guy, an independent volvo mechanic (who is 72 and looking to retire). He wants help. The first few things he wants done are a fuel pump (easy), an engine removal (and eventually installation) (hard), and a cylinder head removed from a 240. I've done an engine R&R before, and fuel pumps are not hard at all.

These are things I could do, but he's leaving it up to me to make him an offer on labor. The only hangup with the 740 engine pull is that the engine is locked up from overheating. That means I can't rotate it to remove the TC bolts. I think the TC could just come out attached to the flex-plate with the radiator removed, but I don't know how much clearance it needs.

What do you think I should be asking this guy for the engine removal? I'm leaning towards 200-400. I think 200 is the minimum that would make it worth my time. I expect it would take me 5-10 hours at least. A shop would charge triple that rate at least.

Cheers
