Control Arm Bushing Installation 140-160 1974

The job can be done by a resourceful and careful DIYer. You need to use appropriate sized drifts and supports to remove and install the bushings and all the while not bending the control arms.

The lower bushings have to be clocked correctly before they are installed.

I do know that at least 1 of the ball joints, upper or lower, has to be clocked correctly before being installed as well and possibly both.

FYI, the original Volvo tools don't require a hydraulic press. The press tool is basically a C clamp type of ball joint press with a large screw. The C clamp accepts different mandrels and cups to remove and install the bushings and the ball joints.
