In contrast to Art B's small fleet of well-maintained cars, I find myself working on cars that friends/family members buy and want to put back on the road. Cars with unknown maintenance and/or that have been parked "for a while" (usu = "a few years").
I realize that yours is a driver and sees regular maintenance. But in the world I describe above, main fuel pump and fuel filter failures are common with "slowly lost speed" followed by "waited, restarted, drove home".
A few years ago I bought a 1986 that had been parked for a "couple of years". I drained the tank; replaced the pumps & filter; drove for a few months. Had 2 rounds of lost power, died, waited, restarted. Both times the fuel filters were clogged with a jelly-like substance that wasn't being drained out. After the 2nd filter replacement, the main pump (which had been used) died.
I had a similar situation with my wife;s car, which she'd driven regularly.
Net, even if I've replaced the fuel pumps and filter I don't rule them out.
