Switched supply is not the problem. I had the supply wired up to a continuous 12v as per the Volvo shop wiring diagram. The key switch is open in the key in / off position and closed in the key in / on position. Volvo either designed it this way or my switch is broken. Since the switch does not appear to be accessible for repair, repair may be moot.
