Problem solved... 700

Thanks to both Maplebones and Lucid for responding.

The parts for the 240 rack are different than the 740, but the fact that Volvo was still able to supply those lead me to believe that they would not abandon 740 owners.

I called my local Volvo dealer this morning and they were able to find the parts and price quote but when I asked about the part numbers I was told that they would produce a record of the request when I was ready to order.

I called Tasca back and explained that my local dealer could supply the parts. I talked to the same counter guy that I had talked to yesterday and he once again checked and said they only way he could supply them was with a replacement rack or a service (rebuild) kit.

I suggested that perhaps he had missed something in his drill down and that if my local dealer could supply them (at a cost of $30 more than Tasca quoted three days ago) I would be surprised if they weren't available from Tasca as well.

He offered to call over to their Volvo dealership and talk to a guy that had been "doing this for years". He took my number and agreed to call me back.

Fifteen minutes later he called back with the numbers and an apology. Apparently he had missed a link in his search. No harm, I am just glad he persisted. The lines are on order.
