ignition issues 444-544 1962

Unplug the coil and check the resistance across the low voltage terminals. A 6V coil should have 2.5-3 ohms resistance. 12V coils are something like 4-6 ohms. If that checks out see if there is 8K between the primary and secondary terminals.

If that is good, are the points or capacitor shorted ?

Not saying this has happened to me, but try a higher scale on your meter for the plug wires.
