check engine light 200 1989

Thank you for replying to my question. You are correct......I found out it is an emissions problem. The flame trap is clogged....again.... and now I need a new oxygen sensor, because it was shorted out from the oil and the clogged ventilation.I was wondering if you knew how to prevent the flame trap from getting clogged. I was clogged 2 oil changes ago and cleaned, but didn't affect the clouds of oil smoke coming from the exhaust. It doesn't seem like this situation will ever correct itself. Is it too late or can I rectify this situation. I love my Volvo and don't want to have to get rid of it, but it is frustrating ot have the same problem over and over again.
Thanks again.
I would appreciate your opinion.
