I see cars where the hose CLAMP is obviously older than the hose. I use good hose clamps and also use a modest coating of aviation form a gasket or similar flexable gasket sealer on inside of hose. Thus if, under pressure, a slight leak develops or - rarely - the hose clamp breaks, the hose may stay somewhat sealed, at very little extra cost in material or labor.
