Ignition Faulters 1800 1973

If you have an ohm meter, connect one end to the red wire at the coil and the other to the dangling white wire. This should show continuity. If that is the case, disconnect the green wire between the coil and the points. Connect the white wire to the points. Car should start and tach read normally.

I suspect that the tach bounce you see now results from the white wire hitting the distributor case and grounding, causing the tach to bounce.
