It could still be the TPS. To quickly rule this out, disconnect the wiring harness from the switch itself and take the car for a short drive. It won't accelerate quite as briskly, and the idle may not be at the same rpm as with the switch connected, but if the 2800-3000rpm symptom goes away, you'll know that the TPS is the culprit.
