Possibly a bad main engine harness.

Did you move the ignition module and disturb the brittle wiring harness' by the alternator?

A wiring issue in the harness is the usual culprit when the dash lights are on with the key removed.

I would not be surprised if you found bare wires in the harness near the alternator.
