Contemplating a sporty car - long, mostly non-Volvo

I guess I'm an old fart, but I don't think that new high performance cars are as much fun as the old ones. They have loads more power, are mostly reliable, handle better than ever, but the sports cars of the '60s and early '70s seemed like a lot more interesting to drive.

Narrow tires, low suspension limits, 100 horsepower max, 6000 miles between tune ups, and stupid grin fun to drive. We just got back from a trip to the Colorado Rockies with our '67 P220 (not a sports car), and it was great. Even full of camping gear the car stayed out of the way of everything out there when the roads got twisty. It reminded me of my ill spent youth tearing up the backroads out by my folks place.

An Austin Healey 3000 or a Jaguar E type are probably out of the question, but there were a lot of sporty cars back in the day. And you're not going to want two huge dogs as passengers anyway.
