Do you need a gasket/seal kit for the heater box?

It's also a good idea to install a new drain hose and it is not included with the gasket kit.

Did you find the special funnel shaped insert that goes into the drain hose?

That is important piece as without it, the drain hose will fall out easily and there is no good way to re-install it without splitting open the heater box.
