tailgate wire issues ? 200 1992

the ground strap between one side of the hinge and the other is broken. the gate itself is ungrounded. if you run a ground from any part of the tailgate and ground it to the body proper the problem will go away.

i have resolved this by grounding the tailgate to the body proper at the upper part of the gate just below the hinge so when the gate is open the wire is out of the way and is short.
