Thanks for the response and advice Eric.
I will take a picture of how I have it set up in my vice with the puller send it to you so you can see what I am facing. I am sure that you have done this job on more than one occasion.
In case you were wondering, the input shaft of the steering box is slightly bent so I am stripping it to get the input shaft out so that I can straighten it. How or what bent it is anyone's guess.
