All of the fuel injection components in our cars were made by Bosch. The only difference between the Bosch branded part and the Volvo branded part is the box that it comes in (and the price!). I remember buying an air mass meter from the dealer many years ago (for like $500 plus tax!) before the Brick Board existed and before I knew about IPD. Nice, blue Volvo box. Opened it up and the part inside was labeled "Bosch" with a Bosch part number and NO reference to Volvo whatsoever.
I agree with the other guys that your problem sounds more like AMM failure or unmetered air getting into the engine from a crack in the "accordion" hose between the AMM and the throttle body.
