You might be able to get enough clearance by cutting/grinding the end of the offending a-arm. Don't go overboard, though - you really don't want to weaken the thing.

The other often-used approach is to adjust the shape of the tube with a hammer. This isn't going to help exhaust flow, but maybe a combination of trimming the a-arm and a teeny little bonk will get you where you need to be.

HD mounts, though, probably won't help.
