My '90 740GLE never stalled, but it did have some stumbling issues.. and it would occasionally refuse to start until it had set for a while.
My issue was one of the two relays that control the injectors. On my car they are mounted on the passenger side..behind the coolant resevoir.
Of those two relays, one was one of the newer non Volvo brands sold today. I bought a replacement.. same brand.. still had issues.
Found an older Volvo relay to match the other, and issues went away. I still have to rebuild the connectors for these relays, as time has made them fall apart within.
Also I will hopefully to pull both soon and have them re-soldered. These older Volvo relays are top notch and just need a bit of work to make them perfect.
