Something similar happened on my son's (long gone now) 1981 240. The entire plug blew out of the head and upon examination, so did the threadsert "repair" in the head. (Thanks, P.O.) The noise of the popping cylinder was quite something.
Cure was to send the head to a specialist shop for welding and rethreading of the combustion chamber.
When you replace the plug, screw it fully in by hand to make sure the threads in the head are sound. Then torque to spec. I am not impressed with the quality of Bosch's current Made-In-India copper plugs. I've used NGK BP6ES on my 1983 for about 20 years now. Top quality plugs. Even the guys on the BMW "Airheads" (older, aircooled boxer twin motorcycles) website prefer them to the OE Bosch.
