Same exact problem---different vehicle in my fleet. My 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4.0,I-6 , owned since new, was exhibiting this 2nd time start. We checked fuel pressure at fuel rail, and after first attempt to start, pressure increased the 2nd time. In-tank pump not pushing enough pressure to fill injectors.
Car runs great, and I decided the odds of the 17 year old ,170K mile pump letting me down on side of the road with a "drop-tank" or Tow scenario--sucked !! I replace the pump and starts on a half turn. Just a thought.
Regards, Ken in FLA, preparing for a pissed off Irma coming!!!
