Hi Phil,

I memorize "how to do steps" in my head. I go over the steps right before I proceed. I confirm the procedure by following each step. My triple checking system is nothing more than a simple counting process. I count three times after tightening bolts. Once again, I go over what I fixed one last time.

For keeping a record, I use a spreadsheet. On the sheet, I create a maintenance schedule based on car and how it's driven. The rear differential fluid is scheduled to be replaced every 25,000 miles on my brother's car. :-)
