I actually never heard of an infrared thermometer, may actually get one (good excuse to buy another tool!). I guess I could also pinpoint all my cold air leaks in my old house. Long time ago I took out my thermostat, hung it in a pot of water on my stove with a kitchen thermometer, turned on the heat, and just watched at what temp it opened.
