Hack: gone wrong 200 1993

"I like to see how other people fabricate their way out of a jam."

And maybe appropriate, see how some can make it worse... for example my attempt to fix this same, rather common issue.

Because the plastic handle broke, I thought it might be smart to replace it with the die-cast version I'd seen on the older wagons, so I pulled one at a yard. When I attempted the replacement I discovered the cable arrangement in the later seats was not at all the same, but I pushed forward anyway, cutting and reforming cable to connect to the old handle. Result is a release only I seem to be able to use, and only with a lot of force. Now to make it right, I'd have to re-cable the seat back. Joe's looks so much nicer, and I'll bet it works better than the original!
