More filter area does equal better performance potential and longevity.

The main advantage is you can clean and reuse these filters as opposed to the original disposable filters.

I personally don't like the "trapped cotton fiber" style filters like K&N and VP sells. I prefer a foam style air filters.

FYI, the taller air filters won't work on a 544/444 with the early style of hood and hinges used on the B16 equipped cars. The early right side hood hinge will hit the tall air filter on the front carb so a thinner filter has to be used.
