Anyone using clumping kitty litter for spills? Lightweight?

I've always used kitty litter to soak up spills and sweep them up in the garage. It's just what's handy. I don't think it matters whether it's clumping or not. However, if you just sweep it outside the garage door it becomes very slimy if it rains, so either dispose of it spread it out if you have gravel like me.
