You found the problem 200

THis could very well be the only problem this carb has ( a leaking float).

I have heard about this before.

You still should use a fuel filter to catch any particle that will reach the float needle and keep it from closing properly.

In a hot summer I have seen gas boiling out of the float chamber. So in summer I keep the bottom vapor line hanging down on the fender. That is one of the two lines that are connected to the solonoid valve on the line going to the charcoal canister.

I know there is a gas smell around the front of the car when engine is shut off. But with the more volatile gas now aday it is easier to start the engine. I keep the gas pedal to the floor when engine is hot. That is because there is too much gas vapor in the manifold.
