Hall Sensor 200 1984

Replacing the Hall Sensor ---- instructions are Not Clear and R-R as pictured will not lead to success.

I have replaced the Hall Sensor in the distributor on my 87 245.

to do it, I removed the distrib, drove out the pin that holds the drive gear at the bottom of the distrib shaft. removed the gear, and slid the body down and off the shaft.

The entire insides of the distrib are now exposed and the Removal and Replacement can now be done....

I did this in 1999 so the exact internal proceedure is now fuzzy in my memory....but it was obvious. (if you've ever dismantled a distributor---even one with points and condensor...which I had done prior to diving into this one.

It cannot be done from the top as shown in the pics Art posted.

I was initially advised that it was not possible to replace and I needed to replace the entire distrubutor.
My thinking was...if that was the case, I had nothing to lose by trying to do it from the Bottom.

By the way----after all that It wasn't the Hall Sensor after all.

So I've got a good used Hall Sensor on the shelf...which I'm not willing to part with.
