Guys;

I don't believe simply going by the YOM is enough, because in the early '60s both were delivered...I believe 6V may have been the default, with the "new" 12V being an option, not to mention owner changes which may have come later...

The only way to be certain of what you have is by inspection by experienced individuals...a Battery with 6 cells is without a doubt a 12V system, and a chassis originally delivered with 12V would have a 4 Fuse Fuseblock similar to the 122...but a B16 was likely delivered with a 6v ESys, but may have been changed to a 12V sys later, and the 6 Fuse FB may still be present (so knowing a B16 from a B18 is also helpful)...and there have been a lot of years in which changes and/or owner engineering may have made.

If the current owners are not Volvo qualified, and don't know what they are looking at, I suggest they should make some photos available, to allow inspection by those who can positively identify equipment.

Cheers
