Dear jd620.
Hope you're well and stay so. I'd use a fuel hose rated SAE 30R. This hose is engineered to take pressures up to 100 pounds / square inch (p.s.i.). The fuel system on a Volvo 940 operates at about 43.5 p.s.i. See: https://www.continental-engineparts.com/na/en-US/Commercial/Hoses/Truck-Hoses/Products/Product-Range/Fuel-Hose/Products/Fuel-Injection-Hose-SAE-30R9 .
In a 1/2" internal diameter, it will fit easily over the factory-original steel fuel pipes. I'd double clamp each hose end using stainless steel, screw-operated clamps.
If You want an extra measure of protection, you can use stainless steel mesh hose sleeving. This will protect against bursting and road hazards. See: https://www.amazon.com/Electridct-Stainless-Steel-Braided-Sleeving/dp/B007KA7FZG?th=1 .
Hope this helps.
Yours faithfully,
Spook
